Upon arrival I found a muddy campsite,
with a leaking tent,
The American Ambassador Piet Hoekstra
on our tent's doorstep,
and a magnificent gift of the farmers:
a huge amount of apples.
The event 'The Island' was already
past its first half,
so the re-enactors were in their roles.
We had still parachutes to fold,
harness trainings to do,
and things to arrange.
Our role was not re-enactment,
but the real deal:
dropping out of the air.
No game,
but the harsh reality,
even in times of peace.
